It is with sadness that the family of Zane Sheplawy announces his passing on December 22, 2021.
Zane had various occupations throughout his life that kept him busy. He started by helping out on the family farm in Flat Lake. When Zane turned 19, he joined the Canadian Arm Forces and was shipped overseas to England and Germany as a paratrooper during the peace time after WW 2. Upon his return home, he started out bar tending in Edmonton. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Lois, he moved up North to mine gold in the Port Radium mines, moving then to Uranium City to mine uranium as his family grew. In the early 70’s when Zane’s family once again grew, he returned home to farm all while he continued mining all winter. Then in the mid 70’s he turned to full time farming and remained on the farm, his favorite place till the end of his life.
Zane is lovingly survived by two sons Dwayne of Elk Point, AB and Shaun (Laura) of Bonnyville, AB and one granddaughter Norah of Bonnyville, AB. His sister Susan (Peter) Kosanovich of Rimbey, AB, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Zane was predeceased, only bidding farewell three months earlier to his loving wife of 58 years 11 months Lois Sheplawy, his parents Mike and Annie (nee Stec) Sheplawy of Elk Point, his brother Philip and sister-in-law Victoria Sheplawy also of Elk Point.
