Veronica Krawiec Obituary
On Wednesday, November 10, 2021 Veronica Krawiec of Bonnyville, Alberta passed away in Lac La Biche at the age of 86 years.
Veronica was the 5th child born to Maryanna & Peter Olszowka on January 21, 1935.
Veronica started her grade one at Blam Tree School and had to walk a mile and a half to school.
When Veronica started grade five, she went to La Corey School and now had to walk three and a half miles to school which was a long way especially in the winter.
At 15 years old Veronica quit school to help on the farm.
At 18 she went to work in a restaurant in Cold Lake, Alberta. A while later she moved to Calgary where she met Ray Milliken who she married and they had a little girl born May 18, 1957 named Elvira Veronica Milliken.
In 1960 Ray passed away so Veronica and Elvira moved back to Bonnyville where she worked at Brosseau’s Department store.
She met John Krawiec and they married on October 7, 1961. They farmed north of Bonnyville in the Dupre area.
They raised six lovely children: Elvira Veronica, Nancy Marie, Irene Helen, Darlene Kay, Peter Steven David, Roxane Tania. Their families blessed John & Veronica with 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchild (so far).
Veronica helped John with the farm along with cultivating a large garden, picking berries, sewing all her children’s clothes.
Eventually Veronica took a job with The Bonnyville Agriplex where she catered weddings, holiday socials and many other special events.
In September of 1998, she moved to Bonnyville, where she technically retired…She still went out to Nancy’s farm where they tended a garden.
You would find her at the Bonnyville and Cold Lake farmer’s market selling her Ukrainian dishes, baking and vegetables.
Veronica eventually did retire and spent her last few years enjoying her family and major passion hockey GO Oilers Go.
Public Viewing, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Memento Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville. Please call or book a time on line on our website.
A private family funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Final resting place, Bonnyville Russian Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Bonnyville, AB.
A recording of the service will be available on our website after the service within 48 hours.
