The family of Ute Bishop is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great grandmother & aunt of Cold Lake, Alberta on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at the age of 80 years.
Ute was a baby when the family fled Silesia towards the end of WWII. They escaped to Berlin, Germany to avoid being caught by Russian soldiers. Ute’s older sister, Rita, carried her as they ran behind the retreating German army.
Douglas & Ute were married in Germany. Doug was an MP in the Canadian Army. Their son, Doug, was born there. After a year or so, they moved to Canada.
Ute is survived by her son: Doug M. W. Bishop (Linette Thiessen-Bishop); five grandchildren: Douglas, Hans, Thomas, Alisson (Adam), Sonya (Johnny); four great grandchildren: Pepper, Sparrow, Howl, Bell; niece: Susi (Simon) of Germany & their two children: Max & Francesca; sister-in-law: Renate (Manfred) of Germany
Ute was predeceased by her husband: Douglas Max Allen Bishop; grandson: Erich Bishop; sister: Rita (Hans) Ussling; brothers: Mannfred (Fred) & Gunther Bruckner; parents.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
