With deep sadness, the family of Philip “James” Sparklingeyes of Goodfish Lake, Alberta announces that the sun set for him on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the age of 66 years.
Leaving to mourn with cherished memories is his loving spouse of 26 years: Gladys Northwest; adopted son: Garner Waskahat; aunts: Josephine Watchmaker, Emma Rayko; beloved nieces & nephews: Patsy (Len), Margaret, Kathleen, Elizabeth, Wilma, Harold (Natalie), Nancy (Burton), Crystal S., Nikita (Brent), Edward C. Jr., Patsy, Monica, Diane, Cecilia, Curtis (Elizabeth), Roseanna, Elizabeth; special cousins: Evelyn C. Favel, Raymond Favel, Colin (Lola) Favel, James (Sheila) Favel, Frank (Mabel) Favel, Harriet Favel, Evelyn D. Favel, Verna Cardinal, Monica Breast, Sam C. Favel, Marie (Malcolm) Favel, Jenny (Lawrence) Favel, Ronald Whitford, Clarence Whitford; James is also remembered by many grandchildren, câpâns, relatives and friends.
James is going into the arms of his son: Duane “DJ” Powder; parents: Johnny & Monica Sparklingeyes; brother: Anthony Sparklingeyes; sisters: Theresa Jackson, Rema Cardinal, June Lupaschuk, Marie Sparklingeyes; as well as numerous uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, câpâns and cousins.

Funeral Service, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., Goodfish Lake Cultural Centre, Goodfish Lake, Alberta with Pastor Linda Burns officiating. Pallbearers: James Favel, Frank Favel, Todd Quinney, Terrence Jackson, Bobby Houle, Alex Favel, Sam C. Favel, Garner Waskahat, Curtis Lupaschuk. Honorary Pallbearers: Annette Cutknife, Ernestine Northwest, Carl Northwest, Augustine Waskahat, Kevin Simon, Noreen Houle and all of his Cursillo family. Final Resting Place, St. Mathias Roman Catholic Cemetery, Goodfish Lake, Alberta.
