It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Joseph Rondeau, who passed away in Cold Lake, Alberta, on July 4, 2026, at the age of 85 years. Born in Bonnyville, Alberta, on December 10, 1940, Paul lived an extraordinary life marked by faith, determination, innovation, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
Paul was a lifelong entrepreneur whose ventures included farming, real estate, hospitality, trucking, water well drilling, casual outfitting, and flying his plane. His strong work ethic, ingenuity, and willingness to embrace new challenges defined much of his life's journey. Above all else, Paul's greatest accomplishment and deepest pride was his family.
He was the beloved husband of Annette Elizabeth Rondeau (née Lacombe) for 62 years, having married on September 21, 1963, in St. Paul, Alberta. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, loyalty, and partnership. Paul was the devoted father of Andrew Rondeau of Cold Lake, Alberta; David (Linda) Rondeau of Bonnyville, Alberta; Paulette (Curtis) Dahlseide of Cold Lake, Alberta; and Esther (Emerson) Quiambao of Drumheller, Alberta.
To his wife and children, Paul was their unwavering pillar of unconditional love, strength, wisdom, and sacrifice. No matter what demands life placed before him, his family including his extended family always came first. He was the person they could depend on in every circumstance, offering encouragement, guidance, protection, and support without hesitation. His presence gave confidence to those around him, and his love formed the foundation upon which generations of his family were built.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Michelle (Philip) Conley, Paul (Amanda) Rondeau, Emma Rondeau, Jenna Rondeau, Destiny Jackson, Jessey Dahlseide, Garrett (Psilo) Dahlseide, Jade Fleury, Brynna Dahlseide, Aaron Dahlseide, Caleb Dahlseide, Adrien Rondeau, Athena Quiambao, Eden Quiambao, Abram Quiambao, and Anthony Quiambao, and by his great-grandchildren Bernadette, Theodore, Lachlan, Alara, and Malachi. He is also survived by his sister Annette Crawley, sisters-in-law Maria and Roanna Rondeau, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his friendship and example.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Adrien and Laura Rondeau; his brothers, Bernard and Louis Rondeau; his sister, Claire (Parley) Gardiner; his brother-in-law, William Crawley; and his beloved grandson, Mark Rondeau.
Paul's legacy is one of faith, hard work, adventure, and unconditional love. He taught by example that success is measured not by what one accumulates, but by how one serves, uplifts, and loves others. He lived boldly, worked tirelessly, gave generously, and loved fiercely. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the generations he loved so deeply and who will forever carry his values, lessons, and countless treasured memories with them.
