With shattered hearts, the family of Neil “Muday & Ugly Kid” Currie Wahpistikwan of Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the age of 31 years.

Neil is survived by his companion of 4 years: Shorelea Kahpoonapit; father: Larry Wahpistikwan; mother: Evelyn Chief; siblings: Winston (Kayanna), Brednor, Creden, Lara, Jacob, Jeremiah, Zaris Laryanna; grandfather: Albert Kahpeepatow; aunties: Doris Chief, Diane Lewis, Vivian Littlewolf, Cathy Chief, Violet Wahpistikwan, Mary Angus; uncle: Tommy Chief; Neil will also be remembered by many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Neil was predeceased by his brother: Billy Wahpistikwan; paternal grandmother: Cecilia Wahpistikwan; paternal grandfather: Billy Partridge; maternal grandmother: Joyce Chief; maternal grandfather: James Angus; aunties: Albertine Wahpistikwan, Joanne Wahpistikwan, Priscilla Wahpistikwan; uncle: Courtney Wahpistikwan.

Funeral Service, Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. SK time/10:00 a.m. AB time, Chief Napew Memorial School Gymnasium, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan with the Band Elders officiating. Pallbearers: Lyon Sandfly, Keagan Kahpoonapit, P.J. George, Tye Sandfly, Kurt Chief, Tyrell Chief. Final Resting Place, Big Island Lake Cemetery, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan.
