Melvin Frederick Sorenson of Fork Lake, Alberta passed away on August 17, 2021 at the age of 75 years, in St. Paul, Alberta.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years: Patricia Sorenson; three children: Tammy Sorenson-Schaumleffel (Aaron), Timothy Sorenson (Erin), Melvin Sorenson Jr. (Carla); three grandchildren: Dustin Sorenson (Katherine), Megan Sorenson, Abigayle Sorenson; three great-grandchildren: Jack Sorenson, Benjamin Sorenson, Henry Sorenson; five brothers: James Sorenson (Elaine), Carl Sorenson, John Sorenson (Delores), Lloyd Sorenson (Trudy), Charles Sorenson; four sisters: Betty Collee, Sandra Kirchner (Ron), Patricia Felix (Bobby), May Stewart; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents: Sibert & Charlotte Sorenson; brother: Sibert Sorenson Jr.
Melvin was born in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan but moved to Alberta as a young man where he married Patricia and together, they raised their family.
His happy place was his home; a cabin at Fork Lake where he enjoyed the outdoors and cherished visits with family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish and enjoyed bird watching and building wood projects. Melvin cherished visits with family and friends in both Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Celebrations of Life will thus take place in two locations: Brookville Hall, Androssan, Alberta, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Christopher Lake Legion Hall, Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, October 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
In accordance with Melvin's wishes, there will be no funeral service; cremation has taken place. Following the Celebration of Melvin's Life at Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan, a private, family gathering will take place at the graveside.

The family wish to thank Dr. Abdulsalam and all the acute care staff at St. Therese Health Centre in St. Paul, Alberta for their compassion and great care that was given to Melvin and his family.
The family also wants to thank Memento Funeral Chapel for their compassion, guidance and service. Heartfelt thanks to all for the comforting words and deeds throughout our grief. Melvin will truly be missed.
