November 15, 1936 – April 9, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Josephine ”Jo” Hazel Toker, who left us on April 9, 2025 at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.
Born in Snowflake, Manitoba on November 15, 1936, Jo was the beloved daughter of Edward Hildebrand and Elsie Hirsekorn.
She married Alfred Fred Toker on March 2, 1956, raised 5 children and farmed together until his death in 2004.
Jo was known for her kindness, generosity and sense of humor and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, knitting and reading and was always happiest when sharing her creations and knowledge with others. Jo was a long-standing member of the Willow Prairie Ag Society and spent many hours volunteering.
Jo is survived by her children: Robin Irwin, Pam Toker, Vince (Lori) Toker, Cathy (Art) Gratton, Bonnie (Steve) Mcgibbon.
15 grandchildren: Aliccia, Crystal (Terry), Katelyn (Tom), Patricia (Kevin), Stephanie (Rory), Aj (Holly), Bryant, Riley, Travis (Stephanie), Jeff, Jolyne (Justin), Renee (Jim), Christopher (Courtney), Kimberly (Darcy), Dustin.
32 great-grandchildren: Madison, Kaydence, Grady, Ryker, Hailey, Keagan, Josie, Harlyn, Drew, Emma, Ryder, Ayrianna, Adellah, Harlow, Colter, Krayghan, Kylin, Corvin, Nixon, Bryelle, Tyler, Tessa, Jate, Tasy, Lain, Kaiden, Keiren, Kambren, Hailey (Brycne), Damon (Amber), Tyler, Shaelyn; great-great-grandson: Emmett.
Siblings: Doreen Scharenberg of Dryden, Ontario, Clarence Hildebrand of Fort St John, BC, Fred Hildebrand of Edmonton, Alberta, Donald Hildebrand of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Donna Larson of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Tom Hildebrand of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Jo was predeceased by her husband: Alfred Toker in 2004; parents: Edward & Elsie Hildebrand; sister: Agnes Lafontaine; brother: Russel Hildebrand; sister-in-law: Kaye Hildebrand; brother-in-law: Fred Scharenberg.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who loved her.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Willow Prairie Hall in LaCorey, Alberta. All who knew and loved Jo are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Haying in the 30's, in memory of Josephine Toker.
