In Loving Memory: Roux, John

With sadness in our hearts, the family of Joseph Jean (John) Baptiste Eugene Roux of Bonnyville, would like to announce his passing on March 22, 2025, at the age of 83 years. 

John was survived by his children- Marci (Dean) Hansen, Bonnie (Rene ) Hebert, Charlene Roux, Jean (Candace) Roux and Ernie Roux. Grandchildren- Jose’, Makenzie, Brett, Braden(Becca), Daryn(Kayla), Jaylin(Seamus), Damien, Paige & Sydney. Great grandchildren- Easton, Allie and Jean. 

He will be dearly missed by everyone, especially Bear, his puppy; forever friend and companion.

He was predeceased by his parents; Henri and Eva, brother; Louis, former wife; Coral, and granddaughter; Danielle. 

John was born on December 4, 1941 to Eva and Henri Roux in Bonnyville, AB. He grew up on a farm near Bonnyville and attended Fort Kent school. He started working at a young age: hauling lumber from his uncles saw mill, farm labourer, working on service rigs, building ice roads in the NWT and hauling explosives on the Mackenzie Delta for seismic, running heavy equipment and building oilfield sites, clearing trees, cutting seismic lines and working as a mechanic. He did all this and more while also farming his land north of Ardmore and raising a family. John married Coral in 1968 and raised 5 children, Marci, Bonnie, Charlene, Jean and Ernie. He spent many years working for Rancier Construction with his good friend Larry. He will be remembered fondly by his neighbors for always keeping their driveways clear of snow in the winter.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Memento Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville, Alberta.  Final Resting Place, St. Louis Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bonnyville, Alberta.
