Janice Rose Sandfly

The family of Janice Rose Sandfly of Big Island Lake Cree Nation and Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan is deeply saddened to announce her unexpected passing on Monday, February 19, 2024.

Janice is lovingly survived by her son: Credence Berland (Shanita); mother: Gladys Moostoos-Sandfly (Allan); brothers: Jeff Chief (Burton), Darin Chief; brother from biological mom: Archie Jr. Sundown; brothers from biological dad: AJ Whitstone, Austin Whitstone, Andre Whitstone; sisters: Janet Sandfly (Dale), Paula Howe (Evan), Rita Chief, Colleen Chief, Trina Carter (Jason), Valerie Chief; sisters from biological mom: Camilla Sandfly, Kim Sandfly, Amanda Sandfly, Ashley Sandfly, Anna Sandfly; sister from biological dad: Chantelle Jimmy; baby Dad: Richard Berland; niece: Mckayla McKay; nephews: Morgan McKay, Mason Partridge; aunties from biological mom: Annie Sandfly (Charles), Ellen Dillon (Floyd), Julia Waskahat (Mike), Liz Sandfly; as well as many aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Janice was predeceased by her biological father: Arnold Whitstone; mom & dad: Paul & Rosie Chief.

Wake, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Onion Lake Log Church, Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, leaving Memento Funeral Chapel, Cold Lake, Alberta at 3:00 p.m.

Funeral Service, Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., Onion Lake Log Church, Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, with the Band Elders officiating. Pallbearers: Richard Berland, Dale Partridge, Morgan McKay, Geoffrey Sandfly, Credence Berland, Joey Heathen, Clinton Sandfly; honorary pallbearers: all of her beloved friends. Final Resting Place, Onion Lake Cemetery.
