Our dear Jackie has finished this race called life…
In typical Jackie fashion, she ended the race on her terms and at peace. Jackie was surrounded by family and knew she was deeply loved. Jackie had no fear of passing and was steadfast in her belief, “We are spiritual beings having a short physical existence and, when done, we will return to our energy essence.”
Most who knew Jackie report that she was a woman of grace and beauty balanced by wit and wisdom, humour and honesty. Jackie was Manitoba farm girl tuff but city sophisticated. She was at home helping around the yard, and equally comfortable dressed to the nines and out on the town.
A life-long learner, Jackie graduated with a BA psychology degree with honors from University of Manitoba in 1988. She also completed her Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer diploma at SAIT in 1998 and completed her Masters Degree in Adult Distance Learning in 2009. Jackie was a CPHR member and held a Counselling Certificate from University of BC, Kelowna.
Jackie had a varied and successful work history and capped off her career working with a great team of professionals within the employee development team at CNRL. But Jackie considered her crowning achievement to be in service of her role as step-mother to “her” three beautiful daughters, Perry, Meagan, and Madison.
Jackie was proud of her Swan River roots and her loving memories of her parents, Jack and Alice Bell. Jackie was also very close to her big sister, Lorna, who Jackie turned to for counsel and direction. And of equal importance were Jackie’s niece and nephew, Shelby and John.
Jackie and Tom spent 25 blissful years together. They were each other’s best friends and soulmates. They were two peas in a pod and were generally seen laughing and enjoying life together. Tom fell in love with Jackie on the first night they met at “the Church of Ranchman’s” during Stampede week in Calgary. As Tom would say… “Jackie helped us learn what a happy life looked like, and she made me a better man.”
With her earthly race complete we take comfort in knowing Jackie is off on her next big adventure.
Respectfully submitted by the family.
