With cherished memories to comfort and grateful hearts for a life well lived, the family of Fedora Matichuk (Hochachka) of White Rock, British Columbia, formerly of Bonnyville, Alberta announces her passing on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the age of 95 years.
Fedroa is lovingly survived by her five children: Jim (Donna) Matichuk of Honolulu, HI, John Matichuk of Bonnyville, AB, Gerald (Hazel) Matichuk of Lacombe, AB, Bob (Suzanne) Matichuk of Blaine, WA and Marge (Gerry) Allen of Blaine, WA; ten grandchildren: Roma (Tom) Hart, James Jr (Sarah) Matichuk, Sarah Brown, Aretha Ryan, Jennifer Allen, Jason Matichuk, Amanda (Brad) Denys, Jocelyn (Chris) Melbourne, Nicole Matichuk, Michael Matichuk; thirteen great-grandchildren: Cassie, Natalie, Ember, Iona, James, Benny, Olivia, Ethan, Camille, Alaina, Zoey, Sydnie, Owen; her loving caregiver of ten years: Requita Pimental; two siblings: Louis Hochachka, Mary Sherstan; sister-in-law: Mary Fersovitch; brother-in-law: Nick (Eileen) Matichuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Fedora loved her family and always appreciated seeing each of them.
Fedora is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years: Mike Matichuk (March 9, 2007); son: Kenneth Matichuk (1976); parents: Alex & Pearl Hochachka; two brothers: Mike Hochachka, Paul Hochachka.
Fedora was born on March 2, 1926 in Nicyhizi, Poland, the second of five children born to Alex and Pearl Hochachka. Fedora’s family immigrated to Canada in1929, settling in the Willow Trail and then Garth area. She lived there and then the Bonnyville area until 2007, at which time she relocated to White Rock, British Columbia.

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, a private family Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Bonnyville Baptist Church, Bonnyville, AB with Lloyd Brown officiating. Final Resting Place, Garth Evangelical Cemetery, Garth, Alberta. Pallbearers: Jason Matichuk, Michael Matichuk, James Jr Matichuk, David Hochachka, David Matichuk, Bruce Matichuk.
