Elizabeth (Kahpoonapit) Sandfly

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Elizabeth Sandfly of Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, announce her passing on September 3, 2025, at the age of 83 years.

Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her children: Lillian Demarais, Colleen Sandfly, Annabelle (Paul) Sandfly, Eileen (Richard) Kahpoonapit, Joan (Arnold) Sandfly, Mitchell Sandfly, Leon Sandfly, Leroy Sandfly; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brothers: Sam (Maryanne) Sundown, William (Violet) Sundown; stepbrother: Gordon Heffelfinger: sisters: Patricia Sundown-Ross, Barbara Sundown (stepsister); as well as many other relatives and friends.

Elizabeth goes to join her spouse Alfred Sandfly; daughter: Adele Sandfly; parents: Louis Sundown & Hannah Kahpoonapit; stepson: Roy Mitsuing; grandparents: Kahpoonapit & Kahpcitco; siblings: Harold Sundown, John Sundown, Louis Sundown, Lloyd Sundown, Norman Sundown; grandchildren: Lyman Sandfly, Lochlyn Sandfly, Laken Sandfly; great-grandchild: Sharki Ochuschayoo; uncle; Jim Kahpoonapit.

 Wake, Saturday, September 6 at 12:00 p.m., Chief Napew Memorial School Gym, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, leaving Memento Funeral Chapel, Cold Lake, Alberta at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral Service, Monday, September 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m Chief Napew Memorial School Gym, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan, with the Band Elders officiating. Pallbearers: Azariah Sandfly-Belly, Justin Sandfly, Frederick Sandfly, Sherwin George, Echo Sandfly, Blade Oseemeemow. Honorary Pallbearers: Maryann George, Gladys Pachapis, Rosina Singer, Roseanna Oatchess, Jean Singer.  Final Resting Place, Big Island Lake Cemetery, Big Island Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan.
