The family of Duane "Buff" Hite of Bonnyville, Alberta are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 85.
Duane Hite was born to Thomas and Bertha Hite in Estevan, Saskatchewan, where he was raised with his two older sisters, Lois and Myrna.
Duane left Saskatchewan, joined the military and served for 36 years. While stationed in Ottawa, he met his wife, Phylis. Duane and Phylis had three children: Thomas (who died in infancy), Tim and Nancy.
Duane and Phylis retired in Bonnyville in the early 90's, where Duane embraced the community becoming a lifelong member in both the Bonnyville Legion and Bonnyville Lions Club.
Duane was predeceased by his cherished wife of 52 years: Phylis; son: Thomas; parents: Thomas and Bertha; parents-in-law: Burton and Edna; and brothers-in-law: Ted, Jack, Harvey, Gordon and Lawrence.
Duane will be fondly remembered by his son: Tim, and daughter-in-law: Rhonda; daughter: Nancy; four treasured grandchildren: Brody, Maddy, Cora and Ryan; sisters: Lois and Myrna; sisters-in-law: Glenda, Arlene and Georgina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life, Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183, Bonnyville, Alberta with Reverend Stephen Sparks officiating. Duane will be laid to rest with his wife Phylis, at the St. John's United Church Cemetery, Bonnyville, Alberta at a later date.
