With profound sadness, the family of Derek Mitchell of Cold Lake, Alberta regretfully announces the passing of their cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the age of 69 years.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories is his beloved wife of 27 years: Laura Mitchell; children: Scott (Deb), Kirk (Tara), Cory (Maria), Jennifer, Christie (Art), Ashley; treasured grandchildren: Reed, Cole, Jenna, Carter, Halle, Knox, Callia, Jaxx, Carstin, Grayson, Myer, Maya, Hayes; sisters: Sally, Deb (Bob), Kim (Joe) Carol; parents-in-law: Ron & Marg Durie; sisters-in-law: Penny (Darrell), Julie (Neil); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Derek was predeceased by his parents: Bill & Thelma Mitchell; brother: Rick Mitchell; grandparents: Robert & Lois Brooks, William & Hazel Mitchell; aunts: Catherine Brooks, Adelaide Harrison, Joyce Atkinson, Shirley Hardie; uncles: Donald Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Raymond Hardie, Robert Brooks; cousins: April Brooks, Paula Brooks, Jennifer Atkinson.
As per Derek's wishes, cremation had taken place. A Celebration of Derek's Life will take place at a later date.
