With shattered hearts, the family of Danny Boy “Thunder” Makokis of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Alberta regretfully announces that the sun set for their beloved Kā-osāwisit (little red buffalo) on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the age of 37 years.
Thunder is lovingly survived by his life partner of 20 years: Trish Carter; children: Danny Boy Jr. Murray Makokis, Ira Storm Makokis, Ila Dyani Makokis, Tyanni Amira Makokis, Bryanna-Marie Carter; father: Dick Makokis; mother: Linda Makokis; other parents Nelson and Irene Carter; siblings: Kim (Adrian) Pearson, Renée Makokis, Dickie (Amber) Makokis, Maggie (Andre) Picard, Shauna (T. Money) Makokis, Mitch (Dana) Makokis, Josh (Shanelle) White, Trevor Makokis; Andy (Cassidy)Carter as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family who loved him.
Thunder is going into the arms of his brother: Levi Makokis; mosôm: Frank Mason; nieces: Blue Sky Makokis, Morning Star Makokis; nephew: Mattie Makokis; brothers-in-law: Ben Carter, Matthew Carter; cousin: Dusty McGilvery.
