Conrad Romaniuk Obituary

Born and Raised in Bonnyville Alberta, Conrad Romaniuk, son to Andrew and Kathy Romaniuk and brother to Martin, Kimi (Cliff) Galloway and Christopher, left this earth on April the 11th to fly with the angels.

Conrad was pre-deceased by Dziadek (grandfather) Jan Romaniuk, Babcia (grandmother) Janina Bazyluk, Dziadek (grandfather), Zygmunt Bazyluk, Dido Walter Zuk (great-great Uncle).

Conrad is survived by his father and mother Andrew and Kathy Romaniuk, brother Martin Romaniuk, sister Kimi (Cliff) Galloway, brother Christopher Romaniuk, Babcia Helen, Baba Stefania Zuk, and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and extended family living in Bonnyville and overseas.

Conrad had a remarkable sense of humour, using jokes to uplift the hearts of others. He was a gentle and soft soul, quick to say I love you. Proud of being polish, Conrad was often overheard speaking polish, even to English speakers.

Conrad loved grooving to music and this shone when he took it upon himself to show everyone else “how it was done” on the dance floor and in his need to often serenade others, loudly and with great gusto!  This love of music extended to his friendships. Conrad and his dad spent countless hours making plans and fixing up an old Winnebago motor home for a memorable friends road trip to the music festival Shamballa.

Conrad took great pride in coming to the rescue of others, like the time the house was flooding and he quickly responded to the family “emergency”. Always quick to show up in times of need, the gruff and bigger than life physical presence held a gentle softness of spirit. His voice could soothe, reassure, and calm, especially the many calls from his sister Kimi concerned about one cat or another.

Conrad idealized his big brother Martin, sharing their weekly anime show, laughing as they stayed up through the night. These weekly routines were cherished by Conrad as a demonstration of the bond he had with his older brother. In their youth, Conrad and his youngest brother Chris, shared a deep interest to the online game “World of Warcraft”.

Conrad had a special soft place in his heart for his Baba Zuk. His Baba even defended him when he would break into her freezer and eat all the ice cream or ice cream sandwiches, leaving nothing for the other grandchildren. Baba’s love of feeding others was a perfect match for Conrad’s hearty appetite. He would take the neighborhood kids over after school to eat perogies and share her apple pie. At his sister’s wedding, Conrad was Baba’s official “escort and bodyguard”, ensuring he always had an arm extended to assist her with whatever she needed, all night long.

And so, it is with great sorrow that his father and mother, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends say goodbye to Conrad and send him on his way. Conrad, may you soar with the angels, spoczywaj w spokoju niech Ci ziemia lekką bȩdzie. Kochamy Ciȩ na zawsze.

Funeral Service, Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., (eulogy to begin at 12:45 p.m.) St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Bonnyville, Alberta with Father Jonnel Eucare officiating.
