It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved honey, father, son, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend, Blake Barner Hunter of Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Alberta on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the young age of 41.
Blake is lovingly survived by his common law spouse: Claire Whitford; children: Shaye Hunter of Edmonton, AB, Justice Quinn Hunter of Saddle Lake, AB, Taylor Whitford of Edmonton, AB, Kayne Whitford of Goodfish Lake, AB; mother: Hazel Sparklingeyes; father: Michael Breast; step-father: Brian Sparklingeyes; kôhkom: Violet Hunter; brothers: Harley Hunter-Sparklingeyes, Owen Sparklingeyes (Ayla Delver), Trevor Hunter; sisters: Brie Hunter, Alannah Sparklingeyes, Shelly Hunter, Joanne Houle, Tiesha Breast; brothers-in-law: Dexter Whitford, Lucas Whitford; special uncle: Martin Cardinal; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and loved ones.
Blake was predeceased by his mosôm: Robert Abraham Hunter; grandparents: Roy and Elsie Breast; great-great-grandfather: Barner Felix Cardinal; great-great grandmother: Catherine Cardinal; brother: Blair Breast; aunts: Beverly Hunter, Yvonne Hunter; step-daughter: Alora Whitford; and mother-in-law: Ruby Whitford.
