On Sunday, May 2, 2021 Annie Hein of Edmonton, Alberta formerly of Pierceland, SK and Cold Lake, AB passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years.
Annie was born September 16, 1931 in Eston, SK. She moved in 1933 and came to Pierceland by car with her mother, Hazel and sisters, Dorothy and Irene. The rest of the family had already moved to Pierceland. They first lived in a house 1 1\2 miles west of the Little Farm and then eventually moved to their own farm south of Pierceland. Annie lived on the farm until 1949 when she married, Jake Hein and they moved many times over the years, in the surrounding area.
Annie was a dedicated worker and always contributed to her family’s well being. Her first job was a cook in a lumber camp for Lizzie and Graham Hamilton in Lac des IIes, near Goodsoil, SK. Annie worked at the Co-op Store, Rawlake’s General Store and the Co-op Bulk Station during the majority of her working career. Her husband, Jake Hein passed away n 1983 and Annie took various other jobs and finally completed her working career at the DND Cold Lake Air Base and moved to Grand Centre, AB (now Cold Lake South, AB) where she resided with Eugene Blackmer, until his passing.
Annie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by many. Left to mourn her passing, daughter: Shelley Hein; son: Randy Hein (Jeanne Jones); three grandchildren: David Hein (Leslie Slack), Jana (Alex) Jackson, Nico Pozsgay; great grandson: Jeramie Hein; sister: Dorothy Tomlinson.
Annie was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Jake Hein; long time companion, Eugene Blackmer of 21 years; parents: Robert & Hazel Little; three brothers: George Little; Elmer Little, Mervin Little; sister: Irene Erickson; good friend: Evelyn Drake.
Celebration of Life, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Senior's Centre, Pierceland, Saskatchewan with Chaplain Randy Hein officiating. Final resting place, Pierceland Community Cemetery, Pierceland, Saskatchewan.
